Teen dating digital abuse is on the rise.

The recent advances in technology combined with the typical pressures and vulnerability that are characteristic of the teen years make teen dating digital abuse a critical topic for discussion.

The Cyberbullying Research Center reports:

One in 10 teens say they received a threatening cell phone message from their romantic partner.

Generation Text is being presented as a component of REACH for Healthy Relationships, an outreach curriculum of the Dating Abuse and Prevention Programs of Jersey Battered Women’s Service and in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Chatham.

Helping youth develop healthy relationships (online and off)

 Ten percent of 4,400 teens say a romantic partner stopped them from using a computer or cell phone.

 Three percent of girls and five percent of boys say they had a romantic partner upload or share a humiliating photograph online.
