
About MAASA
The mission of MAASA is to identify, plan and provide strategies and resources for Madison residents with the goal of preventing and reducing the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other
drugs, and support for children, adolescents, parents and seniors.

The Madison Alliance Against Substance Abuse
MAASA is a volunteer based coalition
that supports local tobacco, alcohol and drug use
prevention efforts.
Established in 1990, MAASA is part of the statewide Alliance initiative of the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
MAASA is funded by grants from the Governor’s Council and local contributions MAASA’s reputation as a leader in prevention strategy is based on successful implementation of its goals, which include:
- Educating about the adverse effects of smoking, alcohol and drugs.
- Supporting events and programs that provide healthy alternatives to substance abuse.
- Creating a community-wide presence in identifying problems and designing effective solutions.
